We rely on our forums heavily for identification of bugs plaguing Tenno in the field. In order to improve on our ability to act on bugs, there are some steps you can take to help us keep the forum organized. This will help our team to prioritize fixes, allowing us to serve the community where we are needed most. This allows adjustment up for a player who carries a team, or down for one who provides no contribution. If a player drops out or does not pick a god in the lobby, Elo is calculated as if that player caused the loss. If players on both sides drop out, both of them get Elo loss. I quit like 2 years ago, so things have probably changed a lot though , and matchmaking seems pretty strange. Maybe there's a smurfing problem like there was in LoL, but some accounts I've seen have like the beta tester icon, level 3 god mastery with custom skins, and some people seeming to have a really in-depth knowledge of the voice chat feature. Stuff that a real low level person wouldn't know.

And since you can't see the levels of the people you group with, I don't know if they're actually a much higher level than me or something. But it seems like it doesn't have any way of trying to balance itself. So is matchmaking terrible or what? I've never played League, but I'll try my hardest to answer your questions. So smurfing is like playing with a low leveled person so you can play under your pay grade? My friends would always make me party leader because they said that this was a thing, but I noticed a spike in difficulty whenever they all max level joined my game.

How does Matchmaking Work? To better explain how Matchmaking works, it is important to define a few of the terms and concepts: MMR is a value that is hidden to the player. That value represents how skilled the system thinks the player is overall, based on their match history. MMR is affected by wins and losses, but importantly, who those wins and losses occurred against and whether the Matchmaker expected to see a win or loss during those matches.

These are entirely separate and do not affect each other. Matches are assembled based on MMR. An easy way to break it down would be the following: More data means more confidence. A player with high Variance will have their MMR go through more significant swings up and down as the system narrows in on their proper MMR. Depending if the Matchmaker expects a player to win or lose a given match up, their MMR may change more or less drastically too.

Things that increase MMR Variance: Lack of data Player has not played many matches in the associated Queue Losing when Matchmaker predicts a win, winning when Matchmaker predicts a loss.

If they queue up with a low level buddy of theirs, which is most likely what is happening to you. Because Team B has a slightly lower MMR, if team B pulls off the "upset" they will gain more points, however what is likely to happen is that team B will lose, this being the case team B will lose less MMR because they went into the match at a disadvantage. The problem with this system is that MMR is hidden, and even though you may lose 3 games in a row because of terrible team mates Which i dont agree with, just giving an example , your MMR might have barely changed. Because your MMR has barely changed, you will be grouped with people around the same skill level as you were before the losses.

Is this system fair? Having 3 people to communicate vs a full team of 5 is not fair, however there are compensations, such as attempting to match people in a party vs other people in a party, does that always happen? Sometimes I only have friends on I can play with, rather than not being able to play conquest with them at all because we don't have a full 5 we play normal conquest.

This sucks when the enemy team does not have grouped people, however I would gladly sacrifice a few imbalanced games here and there for the ability to play conquest with my friends. Why this system is the BEST, but needs a bit of tweaking.
